COMFREY & PLANTAIN with Lavender and Tea Tree

 

A herbal balm, double infused with Comfrey and Plantain and scented with lavender. Both herbs have been traditionally used to help minor scrapes and bruising and joint and muscle pain. Designed with gardeners in mind, perfect to soothe sore hands and muscles after a day in the garden, also used for minor bumps, scrapes and insect bites when out and about.

 

THE INFUSION

Double infused with Comfrey and Plantain for maximum benefit.

Comfrey (Symphytum officinale). Applied externally, Comfrey can relieve pain, swelling and inflammation, it’sideal in the treatment of stiff, sore muscles and minor sporting injuries. Allantoin, a compound in Comfrey, is antiseptic and accelerates wound healing by helping cells ‘knit’ back together. Comfrey is also used to treat bruises, sprains and strains and can be used to treat blisters, minor grazes and scrapes. Its also great for eczema break outs

Plantain (Plantago major, P. lanceolata) is another handy first-aid herb for insect bites, stings, scrapes, and other minor skin irritations. It is a tissue-soother, its demulcent, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. Plantain contains anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory substances, and the tissue knitting substance allantoin.

 

THE ESSENTIAL OILS

 

Lavender speeds healing and is mildly antiseptic. As an added benefit, just the smell of lavender has traditionally been used to lift mood.

The antiseptic action of tea tree is renowned, particularly useful for treating or preventing bacterial skin infections. Its impressive anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties make it useful in a wide range of conditions. Used in the treatment of sunburn, acne, athletes’ foot.
